I’ll give bipartisan credit when it’s due. President Clinton called it right sending us to Bosina. I helped the U.N. mission to collect the evidence in Srebrenica and got to know some of the the survivors. It was a mission most folks have forgotten by now, but I’m still proud of what we did. Guess what, there is a small section of the Muslim world that doesn’t think the U.S. is a bunch of evil bastards. I can tell you personally that they were damn glad to have us around.
The indictment against Ratko Mladic — who went on trial Wednesday at the U.N. war crimes tribunal in the Hague, Netherlands — holds the former Bosnian Serb army commander “individually criminally responsible for planning, instigating, ordering and/or aiding and abetting the crimes charged in this indictment.” Mladic is charged with 11 counts of genocide, crimes against humanity and violations of the laws and customs of war.
