It sounds like the start of a good joke right? It’s not. It’s where we are now with our elected officials and a clear sign that Congress has entered terminal failure mode. They may as well clock out until the next election cycle. The POTR is now declaring the 113th Congress a Broken Arrow. They have been overrun with no hope for survival. Reinforcements will be ordered to arrive in 2014 but I fear a full reconstitution is required to bring this unit back to an effective and efficient level of operational capability.
(The Hill) Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) blasted former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush (R) on Tuesday for making “a fool of himself” by zigzagging on immigration reform in the past 24 hours.
“Let’s wait for a few minutes and see how Jeb Bush changes his mind again. His opinion on immigration is not evolving, it’s devolving. He keeps going backwards. I think he’s, frankly, made a fool of himself in the last 24 hours,” Reid told reporters.
Congress needs to remember they are all paid (albeit elected) government employees. They should all in a bipartisan manner step back look at themselves in a mirror and remember they are “employed” and there to do a job. All of us have to go to work each day and keep comments on other employees “stupid” or “foolish” ideas to ourselves. Most of us would chastise our children for saying these sort of things of others. Harry Reid has no right to go publicly bashing another elected official. If he were to do that in your office to another employee he’d be reprimanded if not fired.
Yes I know all the parties in politics are doing it, both the DNC/RNC and State/Fed. I’m singly out Harry Reid here as he’s the article topic. Still does not make it right. It’s childish and petty. His job is belittled by this juvenile behavior. It’s as if the whole of the Capitol building is suffering from self doubt and is lashing our irrationally now on a daily basis.
Guess what Freaks, this is not an Obama or Bush thing you’re seeing in the behavior of these payed elected employees. Congress has been spiraling down a pit of irresponsibility and taking us with them for decades. They don’t know what to do to fix the messes that have been building over their careers of 15, 20, 30 years of “service” to their constituents. Problem is that they’ve come full circle on many of their play now for votes and pay latter plans that they created. That’s what happens when a problem arises and you can’t blame the new guy because you can be fingered as the one who created the damn problem to begin with a decade or two ago.
So where does that leave us? Congressmen are regressing to playground name calling and tantrums because they just don’t know what else to do. They are no more efficient or productive, than any random lottery drawing of 535 randomly drawn American to fill their seats. That sucks, but it’s no reason for a grown man to resort to name calling of another to the media. Shame on Harry Reid and shame on what has become of these now petty petty petty damn people. The baby boomer hippy educated social reconstruction and national deconstructionist old guard of Congress need to mass retire and let the responsible adults come in to begin what needs to be done. The hard and unpopular work. Rolling up their sleeves, telling America the hard truth that they must show more self reliance, and just getting down to work on cleaning up these fools generational mess.
I like to always say that I can sit and have a beer, or 12, with almost anyone while enjoying a good spirited and polite debate. I just don’t take things personally if you disagree with me, or I you. But right now every member of Congress can go buy their own booze and take it to sit at another table. The grown ups are having a conversation at mine about how to vote your asses out expeditiously.
