As it’s topical, as of yesterday (158 days since it’s submission) my VA disability claim has now been official entered into: Step 4. Review of Evidence. “We have received all needed evidence. If, upon review, it is determined that more evidence is required, the claim will be sent back to the Gathering of Evidence phase.” Now keep in mind the “received all needed evidence” included my submission of 300 pages of medical record on day #1 then about 4 hours of medical review appointments spread over one week around day #140. Sooooo five months just to accept (not to review mind you, just to acknowledge receipt of the medical files existence into their system officially) and then 4 hours of cursory exams that the Army had already done in much more depth prior to day #1. So now I’ve been told by the VA that my file will be under Step 4. Review of Evidence for approximately eight months. That’s IF the claim is not sent back to the Gathering of Evidence phase. So I’m not crying a river of tears over Shinseki’s resignation. Admittedly he took over a crappy position with the VA system. So what. Over five years later it still sucks so I’ll call that long enough to determine he’s not doing a good enough job regardless. Aloha in your second retirement Eric and don’t let the door hit you in the ass on the way out.
